APCJ History

AP College of Journalism was established in 1997 by Satish Chandar. Recognizing a significant disparity between university education and the requirements of the media industry, Mr. Chandar identified an urgent need for reform. Having trained over 1000 reporters and sub-editors for Vaartha daily newspaper, which he co-launched in 1994, he became acutely aware of this gap. This discrepancy stemmed from outdated syllabi and teaching methods, further exacerbated by university professors who had limited or no practical experience in the media sector. To bridge this gap, Mr. Chandar founded APCJ with the objective of providing relevant and industry-aligned education.
